A smile never meant to melt the coldness of his heart.
Gone yet the scent still lingers.
Barely breaking the surface of the abyss she is on.

She got a pocket full of promises
but the darkness never learned to let go.
Penance was not hers to ask.

Why is he on his own?
A life in transit, never long enough to stay.
He walked the earth;
Stole everything even her heart.

His was a hollowed soul.
Almost free but not quite.
Salvation was never in his path.
